Balmoral High School

£900,000 Mechanical Contract Value

Balmoral High School was built under the government initiative PFI (Private Finance Investment) and the fuel of choice for it was Phoenix Natural Gas.

The Balmoral project involved the replacement of the old school with a completely new building.

Price Promise

The complete mechanical services, comprising of heating plumbing, ventilation, air conditioning and gas were supplied installed and commissioned by CHC Group Ltd.

We opted for Phoenix Natural Gas because we were persuaded that it is the most consistently competitively priced fuel, with a guaranteed price over a five year period, says Derek Poole of CHC Group Ltd.

In addition to heating, the kitchens and science labs are also powered by gas - even the Bunsen burners used by the students, which had to be changed to make them compatible with natural gas.

Safety A Top Priority

To provide complete gas safety and control for each area, Derek turned to Modern Plant Components of Belfast, who advised on the requirements and supply of the equipment. Features such as automatic gas shut-off in the event of a gas leak detection, fire alarm or local fire detection situation and total control for teacher over the gas services in their classrooms were implemented. All conforming to the latest legslation to give peace of mind to staff, pupils and parents.
