Cookstown DVTA
This contract had a combined contract value of £386K with the Mechanical Value totalling £346K and was procured under the GC Works 1 form of contract and based on the MTC measured rates. Due to the Mechanical Element being the greater value of the three disciplines we, as the Mechanical Contractors, assumed the role of Principal Contractor.
The work was arranged to be carried out over the summer period when there was no requirement for heat within the test halls and office accommodation. The work was planned and phased to enable the DVTA staff to carry out their operational duties during the complete refurbishment. This involved a lot of co-ordination/programming and out of hours working to ensure that the work was done in a manner to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all personnel using the building. It also involved great co-operation from the DVTA branch staff and this was liaised through the Premises Officer, who attended the bi-weekly progress meetings.
The new installation comprised of heating, plumbing, ventilation and building management controls system.
We are glad to confirm that the work was completed on schedule and the overall handover provided within the contract programme agreed.
