QUB Lecture Theatre and Student Break Out Zone Upgrades at Ashby, Lanyon and David Kerr Buildings

QUB Lecture Theatre Upgrades

Queens University, Belfast

Main Contractor:       Graham Construction

Completion:                Feb 2014

CHC were appointed by Graham Construction to partner with them in the £1.9m project to extend and refurbish a number of QUB teaching and learning spaces at various locations throughout the University campus.

Works included complex service installations across a number of lecture theatres in the Lanyon and Geography Buildings on the Main site and in the Ashby Building on the Stranmillis Road.

The project also included the refurbishment of a large tiered lecture theatre in the David Keir Building, home to the Schools of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Architecture, Psychology and Civil Engineering.

The project also included service installations as part of a new student hub adjacent to the lecture theatre.

These building upgrade works were inspired by the University's approach to collaborative learning, which is to promote both independent and group study while also encouraging student social interaction.  Works were successfully completed on time and budget.
