Oil to Gas Boiler Replacement

Skeagh House

Skeagh House, Dromore
Main Contractor:  CHC Group Ltd
Completion: August 2010

Skeagh House is a retirement home owned by the Southern Area DHSS Trust.  This project involved the strip out and removal of the existing Oil Fired Boiler Plant and the replacement with high efficiency Natural Gas Boilers.  As lead contractor, CHC Group were responsible for the complete installation.

The scope of work included:
  • Asbestos removal
  • 1No Cl sectional gas boilers
  • New Class 1 flues
  • Upgrade to BMS Controls
  • Gas safe pipework installation between meter and boilers
  • Isolation and removal of existing oil lines
  • Alterations to LPHW pipework
  • Gas leak detection system installation
  • Associated electrical wiring
  • Builders attendances

The building had to remain operational 24/7 throughout the works and this involved phased boiler changeovers.  Therefore we had to ensure to comply with all health and safety requirements in order to minimise any risk to staff or patients.

The scheme was successfully completed on time and within budget.
